So is there a cure for acne? Advertising material maintains that acne can be cured through pills, creams, facials and extreme diets. In fact the market place is saturated with one hit acne cures. Unfortunately for sufferers of acne, finding a acne cure that works can not only be frustrating, but cost $1000′s. Acne however can be successfully treated and controlled with the right treatment routine. The truth is, there is no one single cure for acne. You can however improve your acne outbreaks by: 1. Identifying underlying nutritional deficiencies such as Zinc and Vitamin D 2. Identifying underlying hormonal imbalances as in PCOS, Endometriosis etc 3. Identifying food intolerances and toxic accumulation 4. Establishing a good skin care routine Remember though, some "acne cure" diets suggest replacing highly processed junk foods with fruits and vegetables. Of course this is a healthy change whether you have acne or not, however it is only one part of a complex equation for eliminating acne and not a acne cure. A few small studies have shown a correlation between certain food groups (such as processed foods and dairy) and acne severity, but no foods actually cause acne. Cutting specific foods from your diet alone is not going to cure your acne. The same goes for skin care products, vitamins, and facial masks, that claim to cure acne in just days. No products used on their own can cure acne. Effective acne treatment can be achieved with the right advice.

Breast Cancer can strike anyone – and Kylie Minogue is living proof. The Australian star shocked the world when she announced she was postponing her Showgirl world tour due to breast cancer. Fans were stunned as Kylie, at 37, seemed too young to have the disease.

It’s one of the many misconceptions about breast cancer, the most common cancer affecting women. Although this disease is most common in women aged 50 to 59, younger ladies like Kylie are not immune – especially since new studies show that breast cancer found in a younger woman is often more aggressive as it can grow faster and seems more likely to recur and spread.According to Harvard School of Medicine researchers, doctors know that by the time breast tumours are discovered in young women, they tend to be larger and often more advanced. Scientists have also discovered that while older women’s cancers are usually driven by hormones, young women’s are more likely to be stimulated by unknown factors.

That’s why learning the fact about breast cancer, knowing the symptoms, and doing regular breast self – exams are crucial.

Protect Yourself Now
1. Exercise.
The American Cancer Society says you should work up a sweat for 30 minutes at least five times a week. Consistency and duration, not intensity, matters most.

2. Eat Smart.
Eat nutrient – rich foods like berries, flaxseed, dark leafy vegetable and garlic. According to researchers, drinking green tea may help as it contains an antioxidant that may slow tumour growth. Fibre helps block oestrogen’s ability to stimulate out – of – control cell growth.

Use these tips:
a. Eat less red meat and animal fat (including dairy fat), which increase circulating oestrogen. Fish, fruit and vegetables have the opposite effect. Soy foods and flaxseed help too.

b. Don’t consume more than two alcoholic drinks a week. This helps your liver regulate oestrogen levels.

c. Try a daily supplement with vitamins C and E, and selenium.

3. Shed Extra Kilos.
The World Health Organisation says between a fifth and a third of all breast cancers are related to excess weight. It’s because fat cells affect oestrogen levels.

4. Baby Bonus.
Consider having children, preferably before the age of 30. Breastfeeding also protects against breast cancer as it suppresses ovulation and oestrogen production for months. Aim to breastfeed for 15 to 18 months if you can.

What You Must Do Now
To detect any changes in your breasts, do a breast self – examination every month and your gynaecologist do a clinical breast exam annually.

Yearly mammograms are highly recommended for women aged 40 to 49, and those over 50 should go twice a year. However, mammograms tend to be less effective for women below 40. Young breast are dense, and both cancer and dense tissues appear white on the mammogram. This makes it difficult to detect the cancer in denser breasts. Ask for an ultrasound instead.

Top 5 Breast Cancer Myths
Misinformation can keep you from getting the proper care. Here are lies even smart woment believe:

MYTH: Breast cancer only affects older women.
FACT: Cancer can occur at any age.

MYTH: My mum never had it, so I’m not at risk.
FACT: About 80 per cent of women who get breast cancer have no family history. If you have a family history, your risk may be higher a lot, a little – or not at all.

MYTH: Breast cancer is passed from your mother only.
FACT: Breast cancer genes can also be inherited from your dad’s side of the family. So ask relatives about breast cancer cases (in women and men) on both sides.

MYTH: Underwire bras and anti – perspirants are risky.
FACT: These two Internet rumours never quit. It’s not true that wearing underwire bras trap toxins by limiting blood flow. There’s also no proof about anti – perspirants either.

MYTH: Small breasts are less at risk.
FACT: Any women with breast can get it; even men can!
