Any parent of children, young or old, should know how to recognize ADHD symptoms. Most children exhibit these same symptoms as well. The difference in a normal child and those with ADHD, has to do with the length of time the behavior goes on. The average time needed to get a good gauge on a child’s behavior is 6 months. Then, that could be cause enough to have your child evaluated professionally. If a child is ADHD, they will need help to properly develop. The simple reason is the symptoms will be enough of a disruption in the child’s life and will cause issues in other areas. read below to learn what some of the common symptoms of ADHD are.

Behaviors that you can focus on vary, if you believe your child may be ADHD. In addition, each behavior has qualities that will help you determine if the behavior fits. Inattentiveness and lack of focus will be present in all areas of a child’s life if they are ADHD. A form of bouncing from one thing to the next may be present. Often this is construed as hyperactivity or even compulsion. It is vital that this behavior is observed over a long time frame like six months. Contact your physician if this behavior persists.

Are you often making trips to the school because your child has disrupted class yet again? Does your child cause even normal disruptive actives to be more difficult? Does the behavior continue at home? This could be a clear indication, especially if you have heard from your child’s teacher. It could be something else if this is not long term persistent behavior. Behavior over this long of a time frame warrant an appointment with your doctor.

Once a child ages, the symptoms will begin to impact more areas because they will be involved in more activities. It is important then, to pay attention to older children as well, to determine if there is cause for concern. For the most part, the older child is doing things he or she likes to do. We’re not talking about household chores, though, because we all know the deal with that one. Does your child still struggle with inattentiveness while they are participating in an activity that they enjoy. Inattentiveness in all areas they are involved is then cause for concern. The time frame that this goes on is also important. These questions and their answers should reveal to you where your child is.

If you suspect that you’re seeing ADHD symptoms in your children, or in your child, then simply make arrangements to talk to your doctor for guidance. You can leave the hard part of the doctor once you’ve made it to the office. Worse case scenario is that your child needs to see a specialist.

I’m not in favour of drug therapy for children, a lot of the children that have ADHD can be controlled a little by diet and excercise.
